FOXHALL PARISH

Foxhall is a Parish situated 3 miles to the east of Ipswich in Suffolk, England.

Other towns close by are Woodbridge, 5 miles and Felixstowe, 6 miles.

Foxhall is a rural community with about 100 homes and 200 adult residents.

It covers an area of about 650 hectares and has the Mill River, which flows into the River Deben, running through the centre.

The existence of the Parish was recorded in the Domesday Book (1086).  The history of the Parish is, however, scant.

The Parish is host to the Nuffield Hospital, Ipswich, the Foxhall Waste Disposal site (managed by Viridor) and the Shepherd & Dog Public House and Restaurant.  Foxhall Stadium (aerial view) is in adjacent Kesgrave as a result of boundary changes in 1984. The book "Ipswich Speedway, The First 50 Years" by Dave Feakes and Colin Barber ( Lavenham Press, 2003) gives further information.

The Parish boundaries are very roughly;

the Foxhall Road in the north

the Ipswich- Felixstowe railway to the south

the A12/14 to the east

the western boundary is formed by the upper part of Mill River,  wending through Brookhill Wood and south to the Shepherd & Dog public House.

Neighbouring Parishes are Kesgrave, Martlesham, Brightwell, Bucklesham, Nacton and Purdis Farm and Rushmere St Andrew.

Foxhall Parish Councillors serve on the joint Council serving Brightwell, Foxhall and Purdis Farm.
